- Marine Gardening Day(May 10th of every year) is a day designated with the purpose to plant seaweeds in the ocean

Significance of Marine Gardening Day

- To raise awareness of the seriousness of ocean devastation and the importance of creating marine forests

- Draw national and international attention to marine forest development and contribute to restoring and reinforcing the ecosystem and marine resources in calcified ocean areas

※Calcification: Ocean desertification caused from destructed marine forests, resulting from rising sea temperature

National holiday enactment plan proposed to the National Assembly (November 1st, 2011)(’11.11.1)

Proposal submitted to the minister (July 18th, 2011), Establishment of the business support team (July 27th, 2011)

Legislation amendment of the「Fisheries Resources Management Act」 submitted (November 14th, 2011), resolution passed in National Assembly (December 29th, 2011)

Partial amendment of the「Fisheries Resources Management Act」legislated (February 22nd, 2012) and effectuated (February 23rd, 2013)
